About Bonton Farms

We transform lives bydisrupting systems of inequity, laying a foundation where change yieldshealth, wholeness and opportunityas the norm. Like seeds planted on a farm, everyone is born with great potential, but their futures depend on the right nutrients. Since emancipation, Bonton residents have been denied essential components to healthy well-being and opportunity. Bonton Farms exists to impact neighborhood nutrients at the root level to empower the community to reach its potential. Bonton Farms can mobilize volunteers from individuals to groups of 100 or more! Whether you are a corporate group, church, individual or just a bunch of friends who want to do something cool on a Saturday, we have volunteer opportunities to make a meaningful difference. Tuesday - Saturday 9:00 A. M. - 12:00 P. M. We have volunteer hours Tuesdays - Fridays. If you have any questions or want to inquire about a day please emailvolunteer@bontonfarms.org. Can I come pick my own vegetables to take home? While volunteers may help with harvest, we do not offer veggie picking for personal use. Fresh produce is always for sale in our Farmer’s Market at 6911 Bexar St. Yes, absolutely! We welcome group volunteers. Whether you’re coming with coworkers, classmates, friends, or family, we can accommodate groups of various sizes. For smaller groups (under 15), we recommend signing up through our open registration events. For larger groups or corporate teams, we offer private volunteer experiences that can be scheduled in advance. Emailvolunteers@bontonfarms.orgfor more details. Is there a minimum age requirement to volunteer? Age 13 is our minimum age for volunteers. Ages 16 and under must be supervised by a parent or chaperone. What kind of volunteer work will I be doing? Volunteers help with a variety of tasks like planting, weeding, seeding, cleaning, organizing garden rows, working in chicken coops, compost spreading, and general farm maintenance. Tasks vary by day and season. Where can I buy your produce/honey/honey butter? Farm fresh produce, honey butter, coffee, and gift boxes are all available at our Farmer’s Market @ 6911 Bexar St, Monday – Saturday from 8:30-3 pm. You can also place honey butter, honey, and gift box orders online atbontonfarms.shop. Do you offer strawberry picking? We are not a strawberry picking or pick-your-own farm, and produce is not available for personal harvesting. Fresh produce is available for purchase at our Farmer’s Market at 6911 Bexar St. We’d love to see you there! Your steady monthly gift keeps the farm thriving all year long.
