About Chanticleer Acres

Re-knitting A Historic Litchfield Farm Chanticleer Acres is a historic farm built on top of a natural drumlin in the rolling Litchfield hills. The farm house was built circa 1840 by Charles D. Wheeler a local farmer and politician. The English style barns date from roughly the same period. Beginning in the 1990's Harvey Hubbell V began to purchase and restore the farm repairing infrastructure and degraded soils. We maintain a commitment to using permaculture design and regenerative practices to care for and steward the land while seeking to build our community into one that is thoughtful and educated on the food we eat. 100% Local, Free Range, and GMO Free. Chanticleer Acres is not an organically certified farm. We do however practice organic agriculture and are non-gmo. We believe the best way one can ensure the quality of your food is by having a relationship with farm that grew it. We continue to expand our offering with each passing year. We sell pasture-raised eggs, a variety of nutrient-dense fruits and vegetables, honey from our hives, and culinary mushrooms. Our mission is to build a strong local food economy by supporting other local farms, chefs, and organizations as well as connect people to their food. We do this by producing high quality local seasonal food and by offering educational opportunities for the general public and partner organizations.
