Visit our Locations page for more info on where tofind us and when! Fairwinds Farm is owned and operated by Pete and Cathy Karonis, and our son and daughter-in-law Charlie and Audree Rackley. We are headquartered on Augusta Rd. in Topsham, Maine, where we have five greenhouses, five acres of crops, and our home. We also have sixteen acres of strawberries, eight greenhouses and approximately 85 acres of mixed fruit and vegetables along the beautiful Kennebec River and Merrymeeting Bay in Bowdoinham. We sell our seedlings and produce at five weekly Farmers Markets from May through October; as well as at two winter markets from November through April. We also have a Farmstand at our home location in Topsham that is open three days per week. Our strawberry fields are open to the public for "Pick Your Own Strawberries" during the strawberry season (typically mid-June through mid-July). After strawberries, we open our raspberry & blueberry fields for u-pick as well. Our goal is to raise delicious, healthy crops and sustain the fertile soil that we are fortunate enough to grow on. We grow responsibly, using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Practices…which means we scout our fields regularly for signs of disease or harmful pests. In the event that a problem is found that will greatly hinder quality and production, we will spray our crops. When we do have to spray, we only use products that are registered with the Maine Board of Pesticide Control for the crop that we are tending to. We are licensed Pesticide Applicators with the MBPC, and continue our education to maintain our licenses. Pesticide products we use include both organic, natural and man-made products (synthetic). The decision of what products to use is based on safety (human and environmental) and effectiveness. We love growing our fruits and vegetables…and it is an honor to invite the public to visit our farm and share in the joy of harvesting fresh, healthy fruit. Please rest assured that we put the health and safety of our family, employees, customers and land above all else.
Employment Opportunities TOP QUALITY PRODUCE. RESPONSIBLY GROWN. REASONABLY PRICED. Fairwinds Farm is owned and operated by Pete and Cathy Karonis, and our son and daughter-in-law, Charlie and Audree Rackley. We are headquartered on Augusta Rd. in Topsham, Maine, where we have five greenhouses, five acres of crops, and our home. Pete retired from the Marine Corps in 1995 and started Fairwinds Farm shortly thereafter, with just the farm stand and three acres of mixed vegetables. Cathy, who grew up in Bowdoinham (and spent summers picking peas on the grounds we now farm!), owned and operated a separate farm at that time. Over the following years, we joined our farms (and lives), and the business has grown to what it is today. We have five children, four adorable Grandsons, four beautiful Granddaughters and four Newfoundland dogs. In 2020 Our Son, Charlie, (along with his wife, Audree, young son and daughter), joined us in the business...they will eventually be running the show! The rest of our children are now living in various parts of the country - but they all come back to visit, and help, whenever they can! We employ 12+ full and part-time employees during our farming season. This number increases by another 25 to 30 school-age employees who pick strawberries, raspberries, and other produce for us during our peak season. Their hard work and dedication is invaluable to us...it is why we can do what we do! Email:fairwindsfarm08@gmail.com Tel: 207-232-1516 555 Brown's Point Rd.
