The Hill-Stead Farmers Market on the beautiful 152 acre grounds of Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington offers 25 vendors selling an array of locally grown fresh vegetables(many organic and heirloom varieties),fruits,naturally raised beef, veal, pork and lamb, poultry (chicken, duck etc.), CT landed seafood.eggs, cow, sheep and goat milk cheeses and sauces, fresh , breads, baked goods, jams, goat milk soaps, lotions, wool and angora goat yarns and flowers! Additional weekly changing visiting vendors augment the selection and often includes a demonstration such as wool spinning or weaving. A community table affords local clubs and non-profits an opportunity to highlight their activities. Special events include cooking demos, nutrition talks, green energy expos etc. "Locally grown" musicians offer easy listening with acoustic performances. The market celebrates Hill-Stead's history as a working dairy farm and orchard. Pease check the museum web site for listings of farmers and activities. Beyond the market site the Sunken Garden beckons as do miles of hiking trails. Museum tours through the historic house provide a viewing of world renowned French Impressionist paintings including works by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Mary Cassatt and James McNeil Whistler.
