About Railcar Farmers Market

Sponsor/Community Partner Opportunities Welcome to Swell Markets. I'm so glad you're here. I started Swell Markets because I truly believe communities thrive when people come together to support the people who grow, make, and create the things we use every day. Our farmers markets and special community events are all about connecting neighbors, supporting small businesses, and creating spaces where creativity and entrepreneurship can grow. Through Swell Markets, my goal is to create welcoming, thoughtfully curated markets where farmers, bakers, makers, and artists can share their work while building meaningful connections with the community. A crowd of shoppers exploring fresh produce, handmade goods, and local vendors at the Railcar Farmers Market in Van Alstyne, Texas. Right now, I host theRailcar Farmers Market of Van Alstyneand theGunter Community Market, plus a variety of special events throughout the year—fromyouth entrepreneur marketstoart eventsand seasonal celebrations. Each gathering is designed tosupport local businessesand celebrate the talent and hard work of our vendors. I grew up in Northern Minnesota, the daughter of parents who both grew up on farms. From them, I learned the value of hard work, the importance of conserving resources, and the joy of serving others. In 2011, I moved to the DFW area with my children and began a new chapter filled with opportunity and growth. In 2014, I began vending at art shows, sharing my paintings and drawings with the community. By 2016, I had launched a small organic body care business, where I built lasting friendships, discovered my love for local markets, and met my significant other while managing farmers markets throughout the region. All of these experiences inspired a deeper passion: helping otherscreate, grow, and thrive. That’s why in 2019, I foundedSwell Markets & Events, LLC, a woman-owned business dedicated to providing opportunities for new entrepreneurs, small businesses, farms, and hobbyists. Swell Markets is a small business supporting small businesses—helping people grow their dreams, connect with their community, and share their creativity with the world. This blog is my way of sharing what I’ve learned, highlighting the amazing people in our markets, and helping you make the most of your market experience. Here’s what I’ll be talking about: Small business education:tips, resources, and stories to help entrepreneurs grow their ventures. Local food education:seasonal produce, sustainable farming, and food sourcing insights. Recipes from market ingredients:creative ways to turn fresh produce, meats, and pantry items into delicious meals. Market updates, vendor spotlights, and special event announcements. I hope this space inspires you to connect, create, and enjoy the bounty of our local communities—whether you’re shopping, vending, or just curious about the people behind your favorite local products. Want to stay in the loop with everything happening at Swell Markets?
