About Ransom Sage Farm

The Ransom Sage Farm is named for Ransom Alden Sage, who, in 1867, began the farm we now know as Sage’s Apples. Ransom enjoyed real estate and farming and up into the early 1900s bought various pieces of property around Chardon. Ransom’s grandson Allen turned the traditional farm into an orchard with the help of his wife, Eleanor Timmons Sage, who is still living at the farm market today. The Ransom Sage Farm is sister farm to Sage’s Apples, sharing a boundary on the northern section of Sage’s Apples. Ben Sage is a fifth generation Sage farmer to be raised on the land and has always dreamed of acquiring the beautiful farm north of his parent’s farm property. It is a large portion of the original E N Osborn farm, which was mainly used for dairy cows. In early 2017, Ben and Polly Sage purchased the farm from the Osbourne real estate company and have returned the land to agriculture once again! Was the first Sage born in Geauga County and made our current farmland purchase in 1867. Allen and Eleanor Sage are the patriarchs of Sage's Apples. Eleanor Sage is now 94 years old.
