Our farm, "Tosche Homestead," is the product of a lifelong dream and a lot of hard work. (That's pronounced TOSH-ee. It's a Star Wars reference. We're nerds.) For years, we were a pair of homestead dreamers, living in a small apartment in West Des Moines. In late 2020, that dream became reality when we found our perfect homestead, with its 130 year-old farmhouse, pond, barn, and plenty of space. Stacy's the farmer in this family, having grown up on a 40-acre farm in Southern Iowa. We started with some chickens and a small market garden, which soon became a LOT of chickens and a LOT of garden. In 2023, we'll be scaling back the market garden for a bit to focus on our animal enterprises - breeding Cream Legbar chickens, and establishing Cashmere fiber goats and a dairy doe.
