Our Story

Greg Swartz and Tannis Kowalchuk started Willow Wisp Organic Farm in 2007, farming in the Upper Delaware River Valley since 2000. In 2015, the farm moved to the banks of the Delaware River, tripling production. Their mission is to grow high-quality food, improve the farm ecosystem, and provide fair employment, embodying the concept of Natural Capitalism in agriculture. Tannis also founded Farm Arts Collective in 2018, an agri-cultural center based on the farm. In 2018, they installed a 50.4 kW solar panel system to power almost all farm electricity needs. The farm team includes dedicated long-time staffers and new local people learning the craft of farming. Greg Swartz was the Executive Director of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York (NOFA-NY) in the early years of the farm. Tannis Kowalchuk leads cut flower production and manages social media, and is the founding Artistic Director of Farm Arts Collective. John Bachman has been farming since the early 1990s and joined Willow Wisp in 2010. Joe Powell (since 2013), Robert Eldred (2015), Bobby Skotch (2015), and Mark Aubrey (2018) are also long-time staffers. Simon Kowalchuk-Swartz is Greg and Tannis' son and a young farmer. The farm is located at 38 Hickory Lane, Damascus, PA 18415. They can be reached at (570) 982-0050 or greg@willowwisporganic.com and tannis@willowwisporganic.com. They are also on Instagram and Facebook @WillowWispOrganicFarm. They offer wholesale to restaurants, retail stores, and distributors with weekly delivery routes through Sullivan County, NY, Wayne County, PA, and twice weekly to New York City. They are currently hiring for field worker positions. The farm also hosts the Farm Arts Collective, an agri-cultural organization that makes its home on Willow Wisp Organic Farm, founded by Tannis Kowalchuk. The collective's mission is to build community and cultural practice through farming, art, food, and ecology, offering public workshops, performances, meals, and special events.
