Chinook Farms is a Community Supported Farm founded by Eric Fritch, who was born and raised in Snohomish. Eric and his wife Sharon are committed to supporting the local community, including dedicating land to grow vegetables for area food banks. Their mission is to develop and maintain a healthy food system through sustainable farming practices that benefits the local ecosystems, people, and economy, establishing a greater awareness of interdependence among food, Earth’s resources, and the surrounding community. All photos and content copyright Chinook Farms 2015 unless otherwise noted, suggesting the farm was established or the website launched in 2015. Eric Fritch graduated from Snohomish High and Washington State University, then returned to Snohomish to open Chinook Lumber before establishing Chinook Farms. The farm is located on 132 acres in the fertile river valley south of Snohomish, next to Bob's Corn. They also support several other local farmers who share their space, including One Leaf Farm and Food Bank Farm, to diversify the food they can provide to their community and utilize the land to its fullest potential. No synthetic pesticides or herbicides are used by any of their farmers. Food Bank Farm, an outreach ministry of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross in Redmond, WA, grows food on 20 acres in the Snoqualmie river valley and with the help of thousands of local volunteers, produces over 300,000 pounds of food each year for area food banks. To date, Food Bank Farm has delivered over two million pounds of food for local food banks. One Leaf Farm, established in 2011 by Rand Rasheed, grows a wide variety of vegetables on 5 acres outside of Snohomish, WA, without the use of synthetic chemicals, building soil fertility with cover crops, compost, crop rotation, allowing for a fallow resting period, and working closely with an agronomist to build soil health. They control weeds with hand and tractor tools, never chemical, and use fabric row cover to keep
